Akash Decentralized Cloud

On March 8, 2021, Akash Network revealed that the launch of Akash MAINNET 2 has been a resounding success.

Akash MAINNET 2 is the first open-source cloud and the only working decentralized cloud alternative to centralized cloud providers.

It enables developers to do things beyond the limitations of the traditional cloud infrastructures, speeds up growth and scale in the blockchain ecosystem due to the decentralized nature of their cloud infrastructure, and deploy applications faster, more efficiently and at lower cost.

With Akash’s platform, those with underused computing capacity are allowed to earn from leasing their cloud compute to those who need it. This could help dampen the high costs of server maintenance and capital expenditure.

Akash’s integration with Equinix Metal, the biggest data center and colocation infrastructure provider in the world, was quite recent news. This integration occurred in order to expand access to global, low-latency, and robust cloud infrastructure.

Besides Equinix Metal, Akash has also integrated and partnered with Tendermint, Cosmos, Cosmos’s Interchain Foundation, Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC), Solana, Kava, and Chainlink.

The platform is the first to allow developers to launch applications like DeFi apps, games, data visualization, blockchain nodes, and other blockchain network components on a decentralized cloud.

“With the ongoing pandemic, we’re seeing more of people’s lives and work moving to the cloud. In the $370+ billion cloud computing market, MAINNET 2 provides a decentralized, faster, more efficient, and lower cost option in the market,” Greg Osuri, CEO of Akash Network remarked.

“Akash MAINNET 2 propels our vision to enable high-growth blockchain companies and developers a viable alternative to centralized cloud services.”

Akash Network is the world’s first decentralized cloud computing marketplace with 85% of underused cloud capacity in 8.4 million data centers being leveraged. Anyone can buy and sell unused compute via Akash.
