BAYC consists of a collection of 10,000 NFT that have grown in popularity in recent weeks, even attracting the attention of Adidas.

In addition, the project set a sales record of $26 million in cryptoarts sold at auction house Sotheby’s. Now, the project will expand into the “play to win” game market.

The initiative is the result of a partnership between BAYC and Animoca Brands, a gaming software company based in Hong Kong. The launch announcement was made this Monday (13).

Bored Ape Yacht Club to enter the world of P2E games

According to the announcement, BAYC developer Yuga Labs will be responsible for developing the game. The game is expected to hit the market in the second quarter of 2022.

However, there is no more detailed information about the game. The parties have not yet announced, for example, which blockchain platform the game will run on, although Bored Ape’s NFTs are coined on ETH.

Yat Siu, co-founder and CEO of Animoca Brands, just comment:

“The NFTs emerged as a culture reserve. There are few icons that are able to represent the emerging world of NFTs as powerfully as the Bored Ape Yacht Club. And that’s why we, as a group and together, have a significant number of them. We are incredibly excited and proud to collaborate on a game for this cultural landmark.”

Meanwhile, a Yuga Labs spokesperson said he was excited to work with Animoca to expand the BAYC universe.

As highlighted by the spokesperson, the partnership will expand the utility and benefits offered to holders of NFTs Bored Ape:

“Animoca Brands is a pioneer in the blockchain gaming space with a proven track record of delivery. We can’t wait to share more with the community about what we’re building.”
