Here’s Private Share, Samsung’s blockchain-based app

Samsung blockchain app

Samsung would have developed Private Share, a blockchain-based app for transferring files.

This is the rumour reported by SamMobile, according to which the launch is imminent.

It’s an Android app that uses blockchain to guarantee the secure transfer of files from one device to another.

There are many different ways to transfer files between two mobile devices, but these “traditional” tools do not always guarantee the security of what you share.

Private Share allows sharing files privately, giving the sender the ability to set an expiration date for the files, which will then be automatically deleted from the recipient’s device after the expiration date.

In addition, those who receive files sent via this app will not be able to re-share them, and even screenshots will be disabled, although it will of course remain possible to take a picture of the screen using another device, for example.

In order to use it, it will need to be installed and configured on both the sender’s and the receiver’s devices, and will work by sending a transfer request from the sender which must be accepted by the recipient. At that point, a channel will be created and the transfer started.

When will the blockchain-based Samsung app be launched

The hypothesis is that this app could be launched with the next Samsung Galaxy S21, scheduled for January 2021, but it is expected to be distributed later to previous versions of the smartphone, and perhaps even to mid-range devices produced by the company.

There are no other details on this, so we don’t even know what role the blockchain plays in this app, or which blockchain is used.

However, it must be said that Samsung has been developing blockchain-based products and services for some time now, so much so that it has devoted a dedicated page on its official website to this technology.
