What to expect from the metaverse sector in 2022; projects to follow

3 min read

The term “Metaverse” is, without a doubt, one of the most used words in the final stretch of 2021 by those involved in digital technology.

The concept gained traction when Facebook changed the name of its parent company to Meta. This has piqued the interest of the tech industry to the point that it has become a goal for several global digital giants.

What is metaverse?

In short, metaverse means “A universe beyond”. In other words, it’s a digital ecosystem that allows people to interact, cooperate, play games, do business, buy and sell NFTs, furniture and virtual territories, and trade them all with cryptocurrencies.

To R. Ray Wang, main analyst at Constellation Research, metaverses are worlds of their own:

“Today we see [plataformas de jogos] Roblox, Unity and Epic Games building worlds. Every gaming platform, movie studio, sports league and more will have their own worlds. Decentralized Autonomous Organizations [DAOs] it will be the governing principles that will form the backbone of the new worlds. The exchange of value will be driven by blockchain, and cryptocurrencies will bring dark web elements to the new world”, he summarized.

In addition, Wang said Web 3.0 principles, such as decentralized models, self-sovereign identity, and zero-knowledge proofs, will change the way users conduct transactions.

This will give buyers more power and control and sellers more transparency.

So, as this is an ecosystem that is “crawling” 2022 is expected to bring many new developments.

In the list below are some metaverse-oriented initiatives that could stand out in 2022:

1 – MetaFighter

MetaFighter is an NFT-based, play-to-earn arcade-type metaverse game. It brings together characters, skins, abilities and arenas that can be upgraded, won and traded.

Through arena duels, players can earn FIGHT tokens through skill bets and increase their NFT assets for resale on the market.

2- GameJam

GameJam is a blockchain-focused platform that enables blockchain game hosting, participation and publishing for all game types and genres.

The platform essentially acts as a hub for the emergence of innovative new blockchain games. So, as the sector develops, from 2022 onwards GameJam will be even more relevant.

3 – Blind Boxes

Blind Boxes is an NFT marketplace that allows users to pay a flat fee and receive digital collectibles.

Just like toy vending machines, shoppers can see every item in each collection.

Items are randomly distributed. Also, as higher value items are distributed in collections, users can get more than they paid for.

“This concept is a fun and affordable way for buyers to grow their collections of metaverse NFTs, games and art,” highlighted the Tech Times.

4 – Galaxy Fight Club

Called the “Super Smash Bros” of the NFT universe, Galaxy Fight Club is the first cross-IP, cross-platform PVP fighting game on the market.

The metaverse game gives players the chance to use any of their NFTs in battle to earn rewards. This includes the native token of the GCOIN company.

So someone with a Crypto Punk can link their wallet and compete against someone with a Bored Ape.

GFC is about to be released in Q1 for iOS, Android and PC.

5 – Radio CACA

With experienced developers from Tencent and Roblox, Radio Caca is singled out as a standout project in metaverse.

Radio Caca is a 3D virtual world where users can buy and own land, build stores and digital art galleries. Furthermore, they can create and play games in the digital universe.

The game operates under a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) model. Thus, it is governed by like-minded individuals. Radio Caca’s native token is known as $RACA.
