WhatsApp communication application has temporarily restricted mass messaging to prevent the spread of false information
Several days ago there were cases of arson across the UK. Some people set fire to base stations because they believed the conspiracy theories that the spread of new coronavirus was related to 5G networks
In practice, this means that users can send messages to only one recipient (individual or group) at a time. People can continue to send messages to more people, but only one by one.
Obviously, such measures will not stop the spread of coronavirus pandemic alarms. But at least they will help slow the pace that disinformation on this communication platform usually spreads. Facebook has recently taken a similar step with Messenger.
Unbelievable:
Uckfield FM. Moderator said in a broadcast that 5G transmitters “suck oxygen from people’s lungs.” OMG!
5G causes coronavirus because it’s sucking the oxygen out of your lungs, according to a video being spread on Facebook. I want to ? but the fact people believe this bullshit is genuinely scary pic.twitter.com/kY3g5MJtu9
