Company Sorare continues to add significant business partners to its goal of becoming the world’s leading football NFT platform.
Bundesliga, Germany’s highest football league, has signed an unexpected partnership with Sorare, football-oriented NFT platform.
It can already boast of working with French footballer Antoine Griezmann as an investor and FC Barcelona star Gerard Pique as a strategic advisor.
NFT and sports can do a lot together
Sorare raised $ 680 million from Softbank, much like The Sandbox. The company is now valued at $ 4 billion. On this digital platform, users can buy or sell digital business cards using ETH. As you may have guessed, these digital cards will function as non-fungible tokens (NFT). The ownership and authenticity of the token can then be verified on a public blockchain.
Bundesliga will sell its digital cards over the next two years with a possible extension, as stated in the contract. The top representative of one of the largest football leagues in the world, Robert Klein, said that the organization wants to further examine in detail the commercial use of the NFT. He hopes that after two years of operation, this project will continue successfully. Klein believes that the sports sector will take the NFT seriously and will begin to accept them.
Sorare’s management, on the other hand, believes it will reach an agreement with the top 20 football clubs in the world by the end of next year. They currently work with more than 200 football clubs including FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid or Juventus. The most expensive “piece” was sold for decent $ 400,000. It depicts the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo.
