Discovery Plus has been around for a few weeks now, and it really does feature a lot of content that you’ll want to watch since it comes from some of the most popular networks on the market today. If you want to add your friends and family to your account, there’s nothing stopping you, so let’s see how you can do this.
First of all, you should know that on Discovery Plus, there is no specific way you can share accounts with friends and family. In fact, streaming services are not encouraging users to share their accounts with people outside of their own homes.
Nonetheless, account sharing is something that everyone does, so let’s not beat around the bush.
How to Add Someone to Your Account?
The only way you can add someone to your Discovery Plus account is by sharing your credentials with them – email address and password associated with your account.
Once you do share your account with them, go ahead and set up a profile for them and name it accordingly, so they know which one is theirs.
Discovery Plus permits up to five different profiles on the service. All profiles have the same admin rights to the account, but you will save watchlists and have a viewing history attached to each of them. This will help you pick up where you left off, so it’s important that everyone sharing an account sticks to their own profile.
Warning Against Account Sharing on Discovery Plus
It’s true that account sharing is as old as the Internet, but on other streaming services, you have a main profile with more admin rights than the others. Here, things are more barebones, as all profiles have the same rights.
Basically, even if you assign someone you share the account with a profile, it doesn’t mean that they cannot delete your own profile (by mistake or not). They will also be able to change your account password and manage the devices, meaning they can log you out of the service and force you to log back in with your device.
Thankfully, they cannot also change the email address associated with your device, so if you find that the password to your Discovery Plus account has changed, you can fix that. You can do this by saying you’ve forgotten your password on the main screen and resetting the password via a link you get on your email address.
Another thing you need to keep in mind is that Discovery Plus supports up to four simultaneous streams, so if more people are using the service at the same time, you’ll be unable to watch anything.
If asking them nicely to stop streaming doesn’t work, please remember that you can always go to your Account and choose to Manage Devices, which allows you to log any of the devices out of your account.
There you have it! You can share your Discovery Plus account with anyone you want, but we really advise you against doing this – with this service more than with others.
