The Conjuring Universe is centered on several supernatural horror films. The first film was released in 2013, and we now have about eight movies in the whole universe, as well as several extra short films.
The films are a dramatization of what supposedly happened to Ed and Lorraine Warren, two paranormal investigators who started on this path back in the ’60s. The characters in the movies go around the US trying to assist people who were possessed by demonic spirits. In fact, the first two movies in the franchise are based on the files they kept of some of their most terrifying experiences.
True or not, the franchise has had a budget of around $140 million in total and managed to bring in close to $2 billion a the box office, which makes The Conjuring Universe the second highest-grossing horror franchise, following after Godzilla.
Aside from The Conjuring titles, there are also Annabelle and The Nun movies, which serve as origin stories for the entities haunting the couple in our story.
