The Securities and Exchange Commission allegedly launched an investigation against Uniswap Labs – the developers of the giant DEX Uniswap.
The SEC is launching an investigation into Uniswap
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal cites people familiar with the matter and states that the regulator is at an early stage in the investigation process.
The SEC is trying to find out how customers use the exchange and how it works in general. A spokesman for Uniswap Labs said the organization “is committed to complying with the laws and regulations that govern our industry and to providing information to regulators to assist them with any investigations.”
It is worth noting that the SEC’s actions come shortly after the Commission teamed up with AnChain.AI – a blockchain analyst firm – to improve monitoring of the DeFi sector.
Although the first version of the Uniswap protocol saw the light of day in 2018, the stock market accelerated significantly in 2020 and 2021. In April of this year, the weekly trading volume exceeded $ 10 billion for the first time.
