Ronaldinho, the legendary football icon who once graced the pitches of FC Barcelona and AC Milan, has now entered the world of cryptocurrencies with his very own token: STAR10. Named after his iconic jersey number, this token is issued on the Binance BNB Chain.
But despite Ronaldinho presenting the project as a tribute to his football legacy, the launch has immediately faced a wave of criticism. Investors and crypto experts are questioning the security and trustworthiness of the token, particularly given Ronaldinho’s past involvement in controversial crypto projects.
STAR10: More Than Just a Memecoin?
Ronaldinho himself hyped up the launch of STAR10 on X (formerly Twitter), portraying it as an extension of his legacy and a celebration of his football career. In his promotional message, he declared:
“It’s time to celebrate greatness, passion, and that legendary spirit that never fades. Legends aren’t born… they are forged. And you can be part of it.”
While STAR10 has all the hallmarks of a classic memecoin, Ronaldinho insists that the token will have real utility. According to him, token holders will gain access to exclusive perks, including an AI-powered assistant and signed collectibles.
Sounds intriguing? Well, not everyone is convinced.
Criticism and Concerns
Shortly after its launch, serious concerns about security vulnerabilities surfaced. Some critics on social media pointed out potential weaknesses, but the STAR10 team quickly reassured the public that these issues had been fixed.
Additionally, the team announced that no tokens will be allocated to insiders for the first six months, followed by a gradual release over two years. However, despite these assurances, investor confidence remains low.
A major red flag? Ronaldinho and his team control 35% of the total token supply, raising questions about market manipulation and fairness.
Ronaldinho’s Shaky Crypto Past
This isn’t Ronaldinho’s first rodeo in the crypto world. Back in 2018, he actively promoted the RSC token on his social media platforms.
And things got even messier last year when his name was dragged into yet another crypto scandal. Allegedly, he was involved in a fraudulent crypto scheme that scammed investors out of millions of dollars.
His connection to 18Kronaldinho, a suspected Ponzi scheme, even led to a parliamentary hearing in Brazil. Ronaldinho, however, denied any involvement, claiming that his name was used without his permission.
Is STAR10 Destined for Success or Another Disaster?
With the launch of STAR10, Ronaldinho is once again diving into the highly volatile world of crypto. But will this project actually succeed, or is it just another celebrity-driven cash grab?
For now, skepticism remains high, and only time will tell whether STAR10 will shine like a Ballon d’Or winner—or collapse like a relegation-threatened club. ⚽
