Those who believe in the rapid growth of cryptocurrencies in the near future are constantly looking for new ways to make a quick profit. In addition to trading on exchange there is also the possibility of mining. This has been increasing since the beginning of 2020 due to the January growth in cryptocurrency prices. You can find out what graphics cards are suitable for mining in the article.
Before we start
Before purchasing any graphics card or using your existing hardware, you should pay attention to several important criteria. It’s important to realize that even the best graphics card on the market can’t make a profit immediately.
Before mining begins, the most important criterion is to calculate well the cost of energy consumption and the cost of the hardware purchased. Calculate the ratio of price to return on investment. Another criterion is to ensure sufficient cooling or to choose the most suitable cryptocurrency that is worth mining.
Nvidia GPUs
Nvidia’s graphics cards are best suited for cryptocurrency mining. They still maintain a very good balance between performance and price and their architecture is at the highest level.
GTX 1050 TI
Low price means a relatively low output for mining. If several sets are needed, this type of graphics card is suitable due to its affordability. The card is not recommended for Ethereum mining.
Geforce GTX 1060
One of the best graphics cards for mining. However, the low cost and relatively high output only produce 20 MH / s. For the composition of several kits due to its price / performance is the best candidate.
GTX 1070, 1070 Ti a 1080 Ti
One of the more expensive graphics cards boasts 8GB of memory and hashate up to 32.2 MH / s. But more power comes with more energy consuption.
RTX series
Nvidia flag series. According to the creators, these graphics cards are six times more powerful than their predecessors and have 11 GB of memory. It has many advantages, but the price is a bit high. The return is thus dependent on the price of cryptocurrency and market volatility.
AMD GPUs
AMD cards are in demand, similar to the models of their main competitor, because they have similar performance but also cheaper purchase price. Thanks to the price they have a shorter payback time.
Radeon RX 570 and RX 580
This model range is very suitable for the construction of the set due to its low price and overclocking capabilities up to 30 Mh/s. They have excellent overclocking potential and high speed GDDR5 memory from 3GB to 8GB.
RX Vega 56 and Vega 64
Until recently they were considered the flagship. With the help of 8 GB of memory and excellent overclocking, a large hashrate can be achieved. Overclocking is not important for these cards because they are very sensitive to overheating.
Radeon VII
It has almost comparable results to the RTX 2080 graphics card from Nvidia, but lower price and has produced very good results in mining. Provides 16 GB of memory.
Summary
It is difficult to determine which make and model line to choose for cryptocurrency mining. Due to the presence of many variables, it is up to each individual to choose which card or line-up to choose. But always calculate your payback time and other criteria.
We are currently using Vega 64 gpus in our mining rigs and we are happy with the ratio power and energy consuption even if consuption is a bit high.
