John McAfee, a controversial figure in the world of cryptocurrencies, now one of the opponents of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin, is facing a lawsuit from Intel, in his own words. The reason is the use of his own last name in the domain name of his cryptocurrency project Ghost Coin.
Intel is reportedly suing McAfee for his own name
The reason for the lawsuit is the use of the name of a computer security expert in the domain of the Ghost cryptocurrency project. The domain ghostbymcafee.com evokes the name that the cryptocurrency has something to do with the McAfee antivirus, which is now owned by Intel. They bought it in 2010.
On the social network Twitter McAfee wrote:
Intel has sued me over the name “GhostbyMcAfee”.
The buyers of my old company are too foolish to understand that whatever I create only helps their now pitiful product.
Anyway … “GhostbyJohnMcAfee”, while acceptable, seems clunky.
Any suggestions?
However, he admits that he has the right to his name within the product only if he uses it together with his first name. Apparently he knew he would attract attention in the case of a lawsuit.
His cryptocurrency Ghost is supposed to operate, in addition to his own exchange office, also on 60 vending machines in Hong Kong. Some of them are in the local Disneyland. John McAfee is known for his eccentric nature. After his candidacy for president, he fled the country because it was found that he had not paid taxes for 8 years.
