Mercedes-Benz NXT, the Web3 division of the German automotive giant, is launching a new collection of non-fungible tokens (NFT) in collaboration with Mojito, a suite for creating NFT marketplaces.
The collection is called ‘The Era of Technology’ and is the second of seven eras in the company’s ‘Icon’ series.
A limited number of 780 exclusive collectibles will be launched on May 21st at 6:00 p.m. CET.
The Mint will be open for seven days, until May 28.
The team said that due to regulatory and tax requirements, only collectors from the EU, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, the UK, the US and Taiwan can participate.
Discounts and coin cards for existing collectors
The coin minting is open to everyone, according to the press release available to Cryptonews.
There are also two types of discounts.
The first is a 30% discount for collectors of the previous core collections: Machine, Mercedes-Benz NXT Icons, and Mercedes-Benz NXT Eternities.
Secondly, there is a 15% discount for Superdackel owners.
Additionally, collectors of the machine and Mercedes-Benz NXT Eternities will receive coin passes.
These allow one free coin (except gas) or a reduced price. The coin passes are burned after use
The Mercedes-Benz NXT: The second of seven eras
The Mercedes-Benz NXT Icons are a tribute to the design heritage of Mercedes-Benz, the press release states.
The Mercedes-Benz design team led by Chief Design Officer Gorden Wagener designed the objects.
The team designed the story to be told in seven eras, from the present to the beginnings of automobile history.
The first era (one of seven chapters) of the Mercedes-Benz NXT Icons collection is “The Era of Luxury”. It showcases current automobile production and celebrates the brand’s design heritage in the digital age.
Therefore, “The Era of Technology” is the second era. It features six iconic cars produced from 2000 to 2017.
These are the Maybach Landaulet, Mercedes-Benz S 560 Cabriolet, Mercedes-Benz CLS 500, Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6×6, Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé.
According to the team, the items have 62 different characteristics, which are divided into five visible categories.
In this way, the collection allows fans to own a digital version of their favorite Mercedes.
In the meantime, “Mojito’s APIs and SDKs serve as the backbone of Mercedes-Benz NXT’s web3 infrastructure,” the announcement said.
It combines blockchain, NFTs and user-friendly interfaces as well as “the simplicity of web2 with the transformative capabilities of web3.”
Mojito has focused on creating a portal that simplifies tasks such as streamlined token creation, customized smart contract deployment, automated token distribution, tiered discounts through tokengating, and customer management and reporting.
WalletConnect and Metamask have also been integrated
The first core collection of Mercedes-Benz NXT was Maschine, for which the company collaborated with the well-known artist Harm van den Dorpel and the art collective Fingerprints DAO.
This was followed by Eternities for a small number of selected Mercedes-Benz customers as well as Superdackel, a homage to the iconic ‘Wackeldackel’ dog toy on the dashboard.
