British government seized the NFT for the first time1 min read
This is the first time that the British tax office HM Revenue and Customs has seized the NFT as part of a criminal investigation.
British government confiscated the NFT
The agency seized three nonfungible tokens and cryptocurrencies from three people arrested on fraud charges. According to law enforcement, the fraudsters set up 250 fictitious companies, and they received a tax deduction of $ 1.89 million.
They carefully hid their identities with false and stolen documents, prepaid unregistered SIM cards and VPN services. They pretended to do business by submitting fake invoices to the department, but eventually fell into the hands of the police.
The first confiscation of the NFT will serve as a lesson for anyone who hides property from the office with the help of cryptocurrencies. We are constantly adapting to new technologies, keeping pace with criminals trying to hide money.

Last week, the US Department of Justice announced the largest seizure of financial assets in history. Police seized 94 6З6 BTC worth $ 3,6 billion, which was stolen in 2016 from the Bitfinex exchange. The coins were found in the possession of Ilya Lichtenstein and Heather Morgan, who were arrested on charges of money laundering.
