Coinbase Now Allows Card Payment via Apple and Google Wallets

Users of Coinbase can now add cards from their Coinbase account to the payment apps by Google and Apple. Coinbase Global Inc announced the launch of this new feature on Tuesday.

The Coinbase card that has been added to the wallets can then be used to buy everyday goods with cryptocurrencies, said Coinbase Global Inc in a blog post.

Integration with Apple Pay enables cardholders to activate their cards in a jiffy and make contactless payments on an iPhone or Apple Watch.

The Coinbase card is already out, however many applications are still on a wait list. Applicants on the wait list can expect to receive an invitation sent by Coinbase from the week of June 1 onwards.

All cryptocurrency will automatically be converted to US dollars, and the funds would then be transferred to a customer’s Coinbase Card for ATM withdrawals and payments. Users can also earn crypto rewards for using Apple Pay or Google Pay with their Coinbase Card when shopping.

This new feature comes after PayPal Holdings Inc revealed that it would allow US consumers to pay its online merchants globally with their cryptocurrency holdings, greatly increasing the use of cryptocurrency in everyday commerce.
