Former U.S. President Donald Trump will continue to speak at the Bitcoin conference in Nashville, Tennessee, after surviving an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13.

David Bailey, CEO of Bitcoin Magazine and one of the event organizers, confirmed Trump’s attendance and assured attendees that the former president is in good spirits.

In a recent post on X, Bailey said he had personally spoken to Trump’s team and received confirmation of his attendance.

“He is in good spirits and is excited to see you all in Nashville and deliver a speech that is heard around the world,” he wrote.

Last week, Trump agreed to speak at the conference , which will take place from July 25 to 27. He is scheduled to deliver his keynote speech on July 27, the final day of the event.

The attack occurred during the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where shots were fired by an unidentified source while Trump was on stage. Trump reacted quickly, clutching his ear and taking cover while Secret Service agents immediately stepped in to protect him.

The former president emerged from the incident unharmed and an official spokesman for Trump’s campaign assured that he was being medically examined at a local facility. “President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their swift action on this heinous act,” spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement .

The attempted assassination also had an immediate impact on the prediction markets.

On Ethereum-based prediction market Polymarket, Trump’s chances of winning the upcoming election rose from 60% to 68% following the incident, while President Joe Biden’s predicted re-election chances fell from 30% to 15%, according to Polymarket data.

As a result, Trump is now the clear favorite in the prediction market, with overall odds of 70%. Biden is behind with a 15% chance of winning, and Vice President Kamala Harris has a 9% chance.

Trump changes his stance on cryptocurrencies

It is noteworthy that Trump’s stance on cryptocurrencies has changed over time. Although he previously criticized Bitcoin as a “fraud,” he recently changed his stance. On June 14, he declared that he would end the Biden administration’s “war on cryptocurrencies” if elected president.

Trump had previously also criticized Biden for his tough stance on cryptocurrencies and stressed that the United States should strive to play a leading role in the crypto industry. As reported, a survey conducted by Harris Poll found that one in three voters in the US considers a candidate’s position on cryptocurrencies before making their voting decision.

Another survey conducted by leading crypto venture capital firm Paradigm shows that Trump’s poll numbers for the 2024 US presidential election have significant support from the crypto community.

The poll, which included 1,000 registered voters, found that 48% of crypto owners plan to vote for the former president , while 39% intend to vote for current U.S. President Joe Biden.
