Elon Musk Criticizes Dogecoin Creator Over Twitter Bot

2 min read

The week has barely begun and Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and founder of SpaceX, has already been involved in yet another controversy. The target of the time was Jackson Palmer, co-founder of Dogecoin.

It all started when Palmer claimed he had written a Python bot that could fight Twitter spambots. After seeing Palmer’s claims, Tesla’s CEO contacted him to obtain a copy of the bot. From then on, the atmosphere between the two heated up.

Palmer said he wrote a code script that would automatically detect and report cryptocurrency scams posted on Twitter. He added that he gave the script to Musk and crypto influencers.

According to Palmer, it became apparent, very quickly, that Musk “didn’t understand coding as well as he did.”

According to the publications, Palmer would have suggested in his allegations that Musk doesn’t have as much knowledge about coding as he claims to have.

Musk then sarcastically responded to the claims, calling them “false” and asked him to prove that he actually created the bot: “Share the script with the rest of the world: that with the world.”

In addition to this statement, Musk also said that his children write better code than Palmer, even though he is still 12 years old.

The fight between Musk and Palmer, however, is old. In 2013, Palmer and Billy Markus created Dogecoin as a joke based on the “Doge” meme, which depicts a Shiba Inu dog.

Markus and Palmer did not intend for Dogecoin to be taken seriously, but to their surprise, the community around Dogecoin has grown exponentially. However, they both left the Dogecoin project in 2015.

Musk has become an adamant supporter of Dogecoin, tweeting and touting the cryptocurrency consistently over the years. In addition to investing in Dogecoin, Musk mentioned working with its developers to improve their network. The billionaire still impacts Dogecoin’s price movement when he tweets or talks about DOGE.

Tesla’s CEO has a friendly relationship with Markus online, but he doesn’t have the same relationship with Palmer.

Furthermore, Musk stated that “the world loves crooks” and that “nobody cares”, in reference to Tesla worshipers.

Palmer also claimed that Musk just wants to destroy Twitter, furthering the conflict in response to his controversial takeover proposal.

According to Palmer, Musk may be trying to “dismantle all trust” on Twitter. He further claimed that the tech mogul is naive to believe he could create a viable alternative to Twitter.

As for Dogecoin, as recently as May 27, the digital currency skyrocketed when Musk tweeted that SpaceX will start accepting it.

Following Musk’s announcement in December that Tesla products could be purchased with Dogecoin, the value of DOGE also skyrocketed.
