Marvel Comics Unveils First Spider-Man NFT Collection

The first Spider-Man non-fungible token (NFT) collection will feature more than 60,000 NFTs and five different rarity levels.
A friendly neighborhood NFT sale is coming to the VeVe Digital Collectibles App this weekend thanks to Marvel Comics and Orbis Blockchain Technologies Limited. According to a press release from Marvel Entertainment, “Modern Marvel Series 1 — Spider-Man” will be offered as part of a recent collaboration with Orbis and featuring Marvel’s Spider-Man. Digital statues of the popular superhero will be available for sale on August 7 & 8 with flat pricing tied to rarity. The release also coincides with VeVe’s “Marvel Month” initiative.
“We cannot wait to offer fans unique ways to collect their favorite Marvel Super Heroes and memorabilia in digital form. Marvel has been a great partner and we look forward to celebrating ‘Marvel Month,” said Co-Founder & CEO of VeVe, David Yu.
The VeVe Digital Collectibles app is available on iOS and Android and allows fans to buy, trade, and collect official Marvel NFTs including statues, comics, and other hard-to-find items. Other franchises on the VeVe platform include Ghostbusters, The Powerpuff Girls, Back to The Future, and Jurassic Park.
Modern Marvel Series 1 — Spider-Man
The Spider-Man digital statue collection will be offered in five different rarity levels ranging from common to secret-rare. The common tier of statues is titled “The Amazing Spider-Man” and will sell for $40.00 each. 32,000 of the common tier NFTs will be minted. The uncommon or “Hanging Out” tier features Spidey dangling upside down from a web. The 16,000 minted examples will sell for $50.
The highest level of collection is being dubbed Secret Rate and titled ”Ultimate Animated.” According to VeVe, “This ultra-premium animated collectible contains VFX and SFX of Spider-Man jumping into action. THWIP! This must-have digital collectible for Spidey fans features the legendary version of the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in premium digital format.” Each of the 1,000 NFTs minted in the secret rare tier will sell for $400.
“Spider-Man is one of the most legendary Super Heroes in the Marvel Universe, so there was no better way to kick off our global digital collectibles experience with VeVe,” said President of Marvel Entertainment, Dan Buckley.
The Spider-Man collection is just the first of many to be released during the “Marvel Month” of August including copies of Marvel Comics #1 and a line of figurines.
