OnlyFans and the prohibition of pornography. Could BTC help?

It all starts with the news that OnlyFans will censor videos with explicit sexual acts from October.

No pornography on OnlyFans

OnlyFans is a platform that allows you to publish videos and other content available only to subscribers. Every creator at OnlyFans can charge their fans for using content that is not public and otherwise unavailable.

However, the platform is also known for other businesses, such as adult content. In fact, several authors on OnlyFans post videos with explicit sexual acts on their paid channels. The platform’s managers clearly dislike this business and have announced that they will ban authors from publishing material containing explicit sexual acts from October. Instead, nude photos and videos will be tolerated provided they comply with the platform’s standards.

OnlyFans managed sales of more than $ 2 billion last year and now has more than 130 million users, among whom pornography has been a big hit. However, the company would like to get out of this business and may focus on musicians, fitness instructors, chefs and celebrities.

It would in any case be censorship, given that until now this type of behavior has been tolerated and has contributed the most to the growth of society as well, and above all from an economic point of view.

Edward Snowden has always been a fierce opponent of censorship, so he opposes this decision. He wrote, “BTC will fix it.”

The reason for the OnlyFans decision may be “growing pressure from banking partners and payment providers”.

The use of cryptocurrencies such as BTC, can actually eliminate the need to rely entirely on intermediaries who, as in this case, may refuse to process payments that have anything to do with the pornographic business. Not for nothing did Pornhub recently decide to accept payments in various cryptocurrencies precisely because Visa, Mastercard and PayPal closed their accounts.

For some time now, Pornhub has also been paying its artists in cryptocurrency, for example by using Tether (USDT) via the Cosmo Payment or Tron Link payment application.

For example, if OnlyFans only allowed those who sell pornography to pay at BTC, the platform could avoid using intermediaries to make those payments.

Several projects also use only cryptocurrencies, such as a website hosting a Spankchain webcam that uses its own cryptocurrency SPANK on SpankPay to pay actors, while retaining only about 5% commission, compared to 50%, which usually retain the most common platforms.

The Italian project Pornvisory also aims to bring to the world of cryptocurrencies all the services of the adult world, from content to cameras, going through the NFT and playing games.
