British director Ridley Scott will be responsible for bringing the story of the creation of ETH (ETH) to cinemas. According to the journalist Camila Russo, Scott was cast in the production of “The Infinity Machine” (The Infinite Machine), a film about the founding of the ETH network.
The cinematographic work will be an adaptation of the book of the same name published by Russo in 2020 and focuses on the vision of Vitalik Buterin. In the work, the journalist explores the process of creating the second largest blockchain in the world, from the initial idea to execution.
Scott, famous for directing great films like Alien (1979) and Gladiator (2000), has a style that mixes epic, suspense and science fiction. That is, the story of ETH is ideal to be taken to cinemas under the guidance of the director.
Neither Scott nor Russo have released any further details about the work, which does not yet have a release date.
Scott Free Productions to take Etherum to Hollywood
Throughout his successful career, Scott has directed Oscar-winning films including Alien, Gladiator, Blade Runner and others. The director was nominated three times for the Academy Award for Best Director, but did not win any. However, he won the Oscar for Best Picture in 2000 for Gladiator.
The Infinity Machine will have Scott in the production alongside Tom Moran and Vera Meyer from Scott Free Productions. The film will be directed by the Indian Shyam Madiraju, who has only two films under his belt. His passing average is 4.7 out of 10, according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb).
Russo celebrated Scott’s entry into the film’s production team.
“It is incredibly exciting to have Ridley Scott by our side in the making of ‘The Infinity Machine’. I can’t imagine a better team to bring the story of the people behind the most revolutionary technology since the Internet to theaters.”
Directors and cryptocurrencies
Scott’s arrival in the film’s production confirms the growing interest in the film industry. In April, for example, Netflix released the documentary Trust no onewhich exploits the QuadrigaCX exchange attack.
The British director is not the first to dabble in cryptocurrencies. Quentin Tarantino, famous for works such as pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, held an auction of seven secret NFTs. The works contain exclusive scenes from Pulp Fiction, considered by many to be his masterpiece.
Each NFT released featured a secret moment from the film, as well as custom audio commentary by Tarantino himself. The works were released as ERC-20 tokens on the ETH blockchain. Now, the network has its history in the hands of another big name in cinema.
