With the ongoing EURO 2021 football championship, the Sorare blockchain platform has announced a license agreement for the French national team. The French football federation launched its own series of NFT tokens before today’s team match against Germany.
France thus became the first in the world to conclude a license agreement for official digital collectibles. Sorare says it is currently discussing with other football associations around the world.
Sorare also said it has sold more than $ 70 million on NFT digital cards since January this year and currently has 90,000 active users per month from 140 countries. Sorare CEO Nicolas Julia said:
“We have joined the world champions. It is the first of many football associations that will definitely join us in the coming weeks or months. “
The cards of the players of the French national team will be tokenized. With their performance statistics recorded on the blockchain, players’ cards will have different scores and rarities for sports collectors.
However, these are not the first collectibles of football players. Last year, many leading European clubs entered into partnerships with blockchain platforms, such as the well-known football team FC Barcelona, Juventus FC or Paris Saint-Germain FC.
