News of the Week:
Binance has problems with service outages with increasing client base
The Binance crypto exchange has failed to handle the influx of users this week due to rising bitcoin prices, and thus suffers from “a number of performance problems,” Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance, said today. Over the past few weeks, the price of bitcoins has been around $ 10,000, the highest since September. Result? Flow of activity: During the weekend of performance problems, daily trading volume peaked at $ 50 billion.
China disinfects banknotes due to coronavirus, there is no danger with cryptocurrencies
The Chinese Central Bank (PBoC) plans to disinfect billions of yuan banknotes in areas that are worst affected by coronavirus. The epidemic, which hit China’s political, economic and educational systems very hard, forced national authorities to take extreme measures to limit the spread of the virus. China is preparing to introduce the digital currency of the central bank, the digital currency would avoid the need for something so drastic.
CME registered bitcoin futures for $ 1.1 billion in a single day
CME Bitcoin Futures reported one of its biggest $ 1.1 billion days on Tuesday, which could perhaps be seen as an indication that institutional interest in bitcoins is increasing. Technically, the highest daily volume of $ 1.3 billion occurred on May 13, just as the last bulls took over the markets.
Other positive signals are that the daily volumes of CME bitcoin futures continue to grow. In addition to this data, the number of transactions in excess of $ 100,000 also increased steadily over the course of 2020, which may indicate that institutional investors are trading large amounts of bitcoins.
CEO Ripple criticizes Bitcoin for excessive dependence on China
"China controls the Bitcoin blockchain. There are 4 miners in China that represent the 60%+ of mining capacity and 80% of mining capacity is based in China for Bitcoin and Ether."
