The Smart Village project by Future Thinkers is creating crypto art NFTs to finance the development of this smart village prototype and the planting of trees.
It is a 400-acre “regenerative living prototype community” in western Canada, on a former golf resort and RV park. This smart village will serve as a “living lab” for year-round living, working and playing, with the goal of becoming a sustainable, regenerative living community prototype to be replicated in the future.
The sale of the NFTs serves to finance the purchase of the property, which will take place on 18 June.
The property is located in Kamloops, British Columbia, home to long-time project founders Euvie Ivanova and Mike Gilliland, who are also co-hosts of the Future Thinkers podcast.
Working closely with their community, they have co-developed the village’s first SEED NFTs, the first of its kind to help finance the acquisition of the land on which the village will be built, the planting of trees to regenerate the previously cleared forest, and attracting investors interested in engaging in the development of the village itself.
Those who purchase NFTs will have access to:
- A invokable, limited supply, gamified art piece with future surprises;
- A key to potential future token drops;
- Membership to a private group to participate, learn, and collaborate on various experiments at the Village;
- A badge to show off involvement of first Smart Village in BC, Canada;
- Physical trees planted at the Village in token holder’s name;
Mike and Euvie started their Future Thinkers podcast back in 2013, interviewing various experts on technological, social and philosophical evolution towards a regenerative future for all living things.
Regenerative Living Lab within an NFT-funded smart village
The Regenerative Living Lab will host visitors attending retreats, events or staying for a holiday. Over time it will also provide year-round accommodation for permanent residents committed to the village’s mission.
Visiting guests will conduct educational workshops on permaculture, sustainable building materials, regenerative business and innovation, personal development, as well as decentralized governance and finance.
Euvie Ivanova stated:
“The Smart Village has been a vision we’ve been discussing with our global community for many years. We’ve been asking questions like “what does it mean to have a healthy relationship to the biosphere and ourselves” and ”how can we better adapt to the changing world we live in?” We’re really excited about building a regenerative living lab to explore these kinds of questions through practice. We’re also planning to open source our learnings and share them with the other communities”.
