Argentina plans to have a new “Bitcoin City”

Mayor Ulpiano Suarez of the city of Mendoza in western Argentina said he plans to turn the city into a friendly area with new technologies, particularly with cryptocurrencies like BTC.

Suarez expressed these ideas during his participation in a recent lecture called “Afternoon crypto and new technologies”, organized by the NGO BTC Argentina and the exchange Belo in Mendoza.

Argentina is currently one of the countries with the highest use of cryptocurrencies in the world, however, Mayor Suarez’s plans are to offer training through experts to further promote the adoption of this technology.

Agreement with the NGO BTC Argentina

Based on these objectives, the city of Mendoza signed an agreement with the NGO BTC Argentina to carry out face-to-face and virtual activities on the use of BTC.

Among the first activities that will be carried out are a series of free and open lectures and an introductory training course on BTC, cryptocurrencies and blockchain that will start on August 10th.

The goal is for participants to understand the current economic context and how cryptocurrencies stand out; in addition to promoting the understanding of decentralized technologies and their potential.

The increase in interest in cryptocurrencies in Argentina

The NGO BTC Argentina is a non-profit organization that promotes and disseminates the opportunities offered by decentralized technologies to low-income people in Argentina.

About this project, Jimena Vallone, executive director of the NGO BTC Argentina, highlighted that more and more people and institutions are showing an interest in knowing more about cryptocurrencies and new technologies.

Vallone also stated that BTC and blockchain are driving change that transcends the realm of finance. For this reason, they are committed to accompanying Mendoza in its plans to become a “Bitcoin City” in the coming months.
