Coca Cola created its the first NFT on OpenSea. The auction starts on the same day as International Friendship Day, July 30.
According to reports, the American multinational beverage giant appears to have entered the crypto sector dedicated to collector tokens, aka the NFT, to auction off its first collectibles. The auction will take place for exactly four days, starting on July 30 at 12:01 UTC and ending on August 2 at 20:00 UTC. Proceeds will be donated to Special Olympics International, a Coca Cola partner for more than 50 years.
In this context, President Selman Careaga of Global Coca Cola Trademark said:
“Coca-Cola is one of the most collectible brands in the world and shares its rich heritage with consumers through simple moments of joy for decades. We are excited to share our first NFT on the metaverse, where new friendships are formed in new ways in new worlds, to celebrate International Friendship Day and to support our longtime friend and partner Special Olympics. Each NFT was created to celebrate the elements that are at the heart of the Coca-Cola brand, reinterpreted to the virtual world in new and exciting ways. ”
The new NFT Coca Cola are specifically inspired by common moments of friendship and were created in collaboration with developer Tafi, a leading creator of its own 3D content for avatar and emoji systems.
Coca Cola’s NFT Friendship Box auction signing
Auction participants can apply for the Coca Cola Friendship Box NFT, a reinterpreted version of the Coca Cola collector’s item, and once opened, three more NFTs or unique digital merchandise will be available:
- Personalized bubble jacket Coca Cola Wearable.
- Friendship card
- A surprise to be revealed to the winners
This is a futuristic jacket with bubble lighting, specially designed with a gentle nod to nostalgic Coca Cola delivery uniforms. It can be unlocked in another version and worn on Decentraland.
The Friendly Card is a design of the famous Coca Cola business cards inspired by the friendship of the 1940s.
NFT auction dedicated to charitable operations
Coca Cola’s mission is entirely charitable and wants to donate the proceeds to a great friend: Special Olympics International.
Something similar was also suggested directly by His Holiness Pope Francis, NFT that were auctioned on AkoinNFT. Proceeds from the auction were donated to the Pope’s charity, the Scholas Occurrentes Foundation.
Meanwhile, another auction was set up this week NFT, the proceeds of which will be donated to ONLUS “Effetto Palla” from Oristana for animals in the Sardinian region affected by last week’s fires. The authors of the charity auction are specifically the cultural association The AB Factory, together with Antonio Marras and HACKATAO.
