2 min read

Exchange FTX is ready to bring cryptocurrencies, Web3 and NFTs to one of the biggest music festivals in the world. The company’s European unit, FTX Europe, teamed up with Tomorrowland to bring the technologies to the event’s audience.

According to a statement from FTX, the partnership marks the beginning of a long-term initiative between FTX Europe and Tomorrowland.

Web3 and NFTs at Tomorrowland

The idea is to take the best of Web3 to the next events. This includes the annual Tomorrowland in Belgium, Tomorrowland Winter and the award-winning digital festival Tomorrowland Around The World.

In addition, the partnership will explore a variety of applications of Web3 and blockchain technology, including NFTs for art, music and tickets, metaverse events and cryptocurrency payments.

As the exchange highlighted, Tomorrowland’s evolution to web3 is an opportunity to establish a deeper connection with the community.

Plus, it’s a way to engage festival-goers with streamlined ticketing options, artists with creative novelties, and fans with the ability to earn, collect or purchase Tomorrowland digital assets.

About the partnership, FTX CEO and Founder Sam Bankman-Fried highlighted:

“It is exciting to see the continuous mix of cryptocurrencies, music and events. We are proud to partner with Tomorrowland to bring their truly unique and magical events into the digital space, supporting their initiatives related to Web3, NFT and cryptocurrencies.”

Digital experiences for community

Meanwhile, Tomorrowland founder Michiel Beers stated that innovation is in the event’s DNA. In this sense, the festival aims to create unique experiences and important moments for the community:

“The evolution to Web3 opens up many possibilities for our infinite imagination and also the opportunity to strengthen our community for years to come.”

Tomorrowland started in 2005 as a festival with 10,000 participants. It is currently in its 16th year. The event is recognized as one of the biggest electronic music festivals in the world. At the annual summer festival there were more than 400,000 participants.

Also according to the statement, the partnership will begin with a one-time activation called “The Quest by FTX”. Tomorrowland Winter participants will be able to collect the first 1,500 NFTs from a collection of 6,500.

There will be five hidden locations in the event that attendees will have to find and then scan their wristband to enter.

These tickets will give the 1,500 attendees access to exclusive shows at a secret location for three nights (3/23-25).
