Yield Guild Games (YGG), one of the largest companies in the play-to-earn and metaverse games market, has released the results of a recent survey of gaming schools that have YGG backing. The survey found that 23% of gamers earn their livelihood from games like Axie Infinity.

When asked how they spent their earnings, 23% of respondents said buying food and groceries was their top priority.

According to the company, this is borne out by a later question in the survey. In it, 21% of gamers said they were now “able to provide day-to-day necessities for me and my family”.

Returning to the question about spending, 46% of respondents stated that playing Axie Infinity is a supplement to their usual income. Others said they play part-time while studying, with 42% confirming they are currently studying.

Medicines were the fourth most popular response among fellows when asked how they spent their earnings.

Furthermore, the survey showed that the majority of YGG fellows are from the Philippines (63%). Then come Indonesia (11%) and India (11%). The universe is dominated by men, between 18 and 24 years old.

“With play-to-earn games like Axie Infinity being easily accessible, fellows have the flexibility to play whenever they have time. Scholars do not need to play all day. And it only takes a few hours a day to earn that additional income,” said Kookoo, Scholarship Manager at YGG.

Also according to the survey results, a player takes home an average of 2,919 SLP (the Axie Infinity game reward token) per month. This results in just over US$ 51.

The YGG project, which started in May 2021, had Flying Falcon as its first sponsor. The company provided funds to support 50 YGG Scholars from the Philippines, Indonesia, Venezuela and India so they could start playing and earning with Axie Infinity.

Now, in 2022, Sponsor-A-Scholar has four sponsors. Among them are Leaping Corgi, FTX and Coinbase. In all, there are 230 scholarship recipients in the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Brazil, Venezuela and Peru.
