Meta announces physical store inspired by the metaverse

While the much talked about metaverse does not come true for most people in the world, Meta (formerly Facebook) has announced that it will bring the “virtual world” into the physical world.

As the company stated, Meta is opening its first physical store to sell VR and AR devices, focusing on its metaverse interactions.

Meta is opening a physical store

The store is expected to open on May 9th. The facility will be located on the Meta Burlingame campus. It’s also where Reality Labs, the company’s metaverse-focused division, is located.

This will be Meta’s first official store focused on products focused on the metaverse.

“At Meta Store you can get hands-on experience with all our hardware products. We want you to interact with everything. We want you to take things. We want you to feel it,” the statement said.

Also according to the company, the store will include devices such as Ray-Ban Stories smart sunglasses. In addition, customers will be able to call retail associates using the Portal da Meta device, which allows video calling.

There will also be a demo of the Quest 2 virtual reality headset.

According to Meta, the store’s goal is to give the public a glimpse into how the metaverse comes to life. It’s as if the store acts as a kind of bridge to the metaverse and a window into the future.

“We’re not selling the metaverse in our store, but we hope people come and go knowing a little more about how our products will help connect them to it,” said Martin Gilliard, head of Meta Store.

This is not, however, the first initiative by a large company to open its own stores aimed at the interaction between the physical and virtual world. After all, companies like Apple, Google and Microsoft have done the same before.
