Brave Records Twofold Increase, Surpassing 25 Million Active Users

2 min read

Over the last few months, Brave has continued to take strides to broaden its user base. This endeavor has rewarded the privacy-centric browser with remarkable growth.

A Feb 2 announcement reports that Brave has hit a significant milestone in its number of monthly active users. This figure has more than doubled from 11.6 to 25.4 million users over the past year.

As of November 2020, the platform grew by over 70%, with over 20 million active users. There appears to be growing demand for internet privacy, and Brave believes this growth will continue in 2021.

Growing Demand in Multiple Areas

The platform also recorded exponential growth in other areas, including the developer community, which spiked during this time. Similarly, there has been an increase in the number of verified creators willing to contribute to the platform’s growth. This number has risen to 1 million in the same period.

The enthusiasm is possibly reflected in the platform’s willingness to reward publishers and creators. Members actively involved in adding value in the long-term have received over 26 million basic attention tokens (BAT).

Active users can tip influential content creators via Brave’s in-browser wallet. This has significantly increased the utility of the Brave token. Active wallet addresses have risen to 12 million with over four million monthly transactions from BAT users.

Brave emphasized demand for ads that comply with privacy protection. It added that revenue had risen significantly by 28x over the year. Brendan Eich, CEO and Co-Founder of Brave explains:

“25 million people have made the switch to Brave in order to protect their privacy and to regain control of their browsing experience. Users are realizing that a new way to browse the Web is just one click away with a seamless Brave download and that they can opt-out of the surveillance economy and instead get rewarded for browsing.”

Other Features

Eich also expressed his optimism towards increasing the tools necessary to enhance privacy on the browser. He stated that more users would look for platforms with these features in 2021. The team has continuously worked on modifications that would woo more users.

Brave has previously given entrenched browsers like Chrome a real run for their money. Since then, it has garnered a lot of appeal to web users and raked in a significant user base.

The project continues to integrate crypto-centric features. In August 2020, the platform including a Gemini trading widget and more integrations are likely on the way.
