Fetch.ai COVID-19

The British artificial intelligence company Fetch.ai announced today that it will make its technology available to help diagnose cases of COVID-19.

To do this, Fetch.ai has launched a project called CoLearn network, an AI system that would access the various X-rays of patients to understand whether or not it is a COVID-19 case.

In fact, according to Science Daily, chest X-rays are useful to identify patients showing lung problems, with an 83 percent correct prediction of cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection.

CoLearn would therefore analyze the various X-rays of patients to help in the diagnosis of the virus. Fetch.ai will also use the blockchain to obtain safe data that is not visible to everyone, as in this case it would not use a public ledger, but a private protocol.

Fetch.ai for the fight against Covid-19

Jonathan Ward, CTO of Fetch.ai, said:

“Currently, our machine learning algorithm can distinguish COVID-19 patients from those with pneumonia from other causes with an accuracy of 97%. In the context of the pandemic, with wider implementation of our CoLearn network, we have the ability to rapidly and efficiently combine information from hospitals across the globe to vastly improve prognostic predictions and ensure patients are given the right care”.

Humayun Sheikh, CEO of Fetch.ai, explained:

“Machine learning is changing our everyday life in ways that were previously unimaginable. These algorithms are everywhere; in your pocket, in traffic cameras, in the websites you visit, and they all share a common goal, to build models based on a given data set to make accurate predictions. Our goal with Fetch.ai’s collective learning module is to utilize otherwise unused and unknown data to solve complex coordination tasks, and in this case, create a database that will quickly identify the existence of COVID-19 in patients while allowing hospitals without experience in ML/AI to benefit from the collective models”.
