Microsoft will not invest in Bitcoin
2 min readMicrosoft will not invest in Bitcoin at the moment. This is not an indiscretion but what emerges from interpreting the words of its CEO in an interview with CNN.
The $BTC balance sheet!
I'm asking every Pres & CEO on @firstmove what they are thinking re digital asset/cash diversification.
It's a no from @Microsoft but if anything changes @BradSmi promises you'll hear it here first!! pic.twitter.com/uK3Zh11M5c

When asked if he has heard about Tesla’s investment, Brad Smith smilingly answers the journalist:
“I haven’t heard any new conversations about Bitcoin, but if we change our investment policy on Bitcoin, you’ll be the first to know.”
At the moment, Microsoft’s board of directors has not yet taken the matter into consideration.
In short, Microsoft has not been overwhelmed by Tesla, nor by rumours that other giants such as Apple and Oracle are ready to invest in Bitcoin.
Institutional investors jumping on Bitcoin, except for Microsoft
It seems that Microsoft is not experiencing FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), despite Bitcoin being at an all-time high of $51,000.
However, more and more companies are choosing to diversify their portfolios by investing in Bitcoin. In the beginning, it was Microstrategy, which not only added Bitcoin to its assets but also chose it as its primary reserve. The CEO Michael Saylor is an evangelist for his part, which means he is trying to bring Bitcoin into the world of big business, as evidenced by the Bitcoin for corporations event he held in recent days.
But Microsoft is not interested in that at the moment. Microsoft is certainly familiar with Bitcoin, having been a pioneer in introducing it as a payment method since 2014 when it was worth a few hundred dollars. However, in 2018 it had suspended it, in the early days of January, given the high volatility of BTC which had risen towards $20,000 and then fallen just as quickly. The company has since resumed accepting it.
Microsoft also seems to be very active on the cryptocurrency front, so much so that it has filed a patent to allow it to mine cryptocurrencies using the activities of the human body. In addition, it wants to create decentralized identities through the ION project, using the Bitcoin blockchain.
However, anyone expecting this activity to be synonymous with acceptance will have to think again.
