Peter McCormack has surrendered in the case against Craig Wright

The two contenders have been in litigation against each other since April 2019, when Wright sued McCormack for defamation

Despite Tether’s support, in July the UK High Court ordered McCormack to pay £18,500 to Wright for court costs.

Today the other co-founder of Bitcoin SV, Calvin Ayre, wrote on his Twitter profile

“SCA ONTIER LLP, Dr Wright’s solicitors, have confirmed that Mr McCormack’s legal representatives have informed them of their client’s intention not to continue defending the libel proceedings, which proceedings will now continue to their natural conclusion”.

Thus it is a de facto surrender by McCormack and a victory for Craig Wright

Ayre also added that McCormack has been abandoned by Tether, suggesting that this may be the reason for his surrender.

McCormack surrenders to Craig Wright

McCormack commented on Twitter with a tweet that reveals a certain uneasiness.

He wrote:

“We shouldn’t trust mainstream journalists with their legal departments and fact-checking teams because the media company might have a known bias.

We should though trust influencers and grifters who spread conspiracies who also have a known bias”.

He also added:

“Those same influencers and grifters will definitely believe mainstream journalists if the source matches their bias though”.

Finally, to the question whether he too is an influencer, he answered:

“Maybe, which would make me feel sad. I certainly try to be more of a journalist but I don’t have the same fact-checking ability of a major media company”.

Over the years there have been many lawsuits filed by or against Craig Wright, some won, some lost, and some still pending. Probably the fact that he claims to be the one and only Satoshi Nakamoto has attracted not only a lot of criticism but also a lot of accusations that are not always permissible.
