Platinum Producer Murda Beatz Gets Into Bitcoin

Canadian record producer Murda Beatz (Shane Lee Lindstrom), known for his collaborations with musicians such as Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Gucci Mane, Drake and others, has bought an undisclosed amount of Bitcoin, he revealed to his 283,000 Twitter followers today.

Announcing his entry into the crypto space, Beatz also tagged hip-hop artist Jermane Prime and Morgan Creek Digital co-founder Anthony Pompliano. The latter congratulated “his guy” on becoming the newest Bitcoiner.

To date, Beatz’s production credits include Drake’s “Nice For What,” Migos’ “Motorsport,” Travis Scott’s “Butterfly Effect,” and others. He also worked on eight Grammy-nominated albums and over 20 Billboard’s top albums.

Multiple individuals from various industries have entered the cryptocurrency scene in the last year or so.

For example, former UFC fighter Ben Askren regularly tweets about crypto and supported the latest Bitcoin halving. Last October, he sparked a “Bitcoin v gold” debate and was also sponsored by the Litecoin Foundation for UFC 235 in January.

In February, the UFC itself partnered with Dapper Labs, a company that builds digital collectibles on the blockchain, to help bring the technology to the sport. Previously, the UFC also worked with Litecoin, advertising its logo at UFC 232.

From Elon Musk to Mark Cuban: 9 billionaires who own Bitcoin

In other instances, Bitcoin even managed to turn some of its hardcore critics into cryptocurrency market bulls. Just recently, business intelligence firm MicroStrategy bought $425 million worth of “digital gold”—after its CEO Michael Saylor said that Bitcoin’s “days were numbered” back in 2013.

On the other hand, some are cashing out. Yesterday, Hedgeye Risk Management CEO Keith McCullough tweeted that he had sold all his Bitcoin.

While not entirely mainstream yet, the crypto sphere is certainly getting people’s attention.
