Launched in 2007 in Montreal, Canada, Pornhub is arguably one of the largest, if not the largest, adult sites. Pornhub Premium is an adult video source in HD, where users have to pay a fee for watching, and now they can do so using Bitcoins and Litecoins.
Pornhub Premium accepts payments in Bitcoins and Litecoins
Pornhub Premium, the HD branch of the popular adult site Pornhub, has announced that it now accepts Bitcoin and Litecoin as its payment methods. The company wrote on Twitter:
To further expand our cryptocurrency options for Pornhub Premium, we’re excited to announce that we now accept Bitcoin & Litecoin as payment methods!
Corey Price, vice president of Pornhub, added:
“As a leader in adult content with over 130 million visitors per day, Pornhub is excited to now offer two widely-used and leading digital currencies for our users. Our team continues to pave the way for tech development, testing and implementing new technology for everyday consumers far ahead of the mainstream market.”
It is important to emphasize that there is a significant difference between the two sites, even if they belong to the same brand. Data from the Similar Web shows that Pornhub has approximately 3 billion visitors a month. It is currently the ninth most popular website. While Pornhub Premium peaked at around 286 million in April and its traffic fell to 97 million visitors a month in July.
Nevertheless, it is a huge audience that can now pay with Bitcoin or Litecoin, and when it comes to the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies, it is undoubtedly a step in the right direction.
Pornhub and cryptocurrencies
Many will remember when PayPal, the digital payment giant, cut off support for the platform and forced it to find another solution. In early 2019, the company announced that PayPal had discontinued “more than a hundred thousand artists who relied on them for their cost of living.”
PayPal was one of the most commonly used payment processors that Pornhub worked with. When collaboration was broken, many artists began looking for alternatives. At the time, the main leaders of the crypto world recommended Pornhub Bitcoin as a decentralized and completely unchanging way of sending and receiving money.
Crypto world is no stranger to the adult website, as it already allowed payments through Verge (XVG) and Tron (TRX) and later announced that it would also accept USDT. Corey Price said the site will look at other crypto payment options in the future.
In any case, Pornhub Premium accepting Bitcoins and Litecoins is certainly good news, as more large corporations continue to accept the biggest cryptocurrencies as a means of payment.
