Coinbase came up with an announcement in an official Twitter account stating that Dogecoin is the seventh cryptocurrency that traders can use to pay for Coinbase’s e-commerce today. In addition to Dogecoin, the platform supports BTC, BTC Cash, ETH, Litecoin and stablecoins DAI and USDC.

Coinbase Commerce is a platform that connects to the main Coinbase.com portal, allowing customers to convert cryptocurrencies to standard fiat currencies such as USD, EUR or British Pound. Banksy’s work sold for $ 12.9 million, but the auction house did not provide information on whether the payment was made through cryptocurrencies.

The Coinbase Commerce platform has been in existence for more than two years, during which time it has achieved processed transactions worth $ 200 million. John Zettler, the project’s leader, said that BTC was by far the most widely used cryptocurrency, adding:

“Customers often tell us that BTC is the currency they know best and trust the most.”
