Why does Snapchat keep crashing? How to update and fix app after it stops working

Many Snapchat users have been experiencing a glitch leading their phone to crash upon opening the app.
The bug only appears to have impacted Apple phones and not Androids, but this is not the first time the social media app has malfunctioned.
Over the past three weeks the app has been updated four further times due to bug fixes, according to its App Store history.
Why does Snapchat keep crashing?
Snapchat continually glitched due to a bug in the most recent iOS version of the app causing it to display an error message before crashing.
Snapchat Support said on the evening of Monday 28 June that it was aware of the issue with the latest version of the app in Apple’s App Store, and was working hard to fix it.
The app’s tech team was swift to fix the glitch, urging users to download the latest version 11.34.1.35 and update the platform.
How to update the Snapchat app
If your Apple phone does not automatically download your app updates, do this manually in the App Store.
Once open, tap your profile picture in the top right-hand corner which will allow you to see all the apps that have recently updated.
Dragging the list down to refresh will prompt any apps that have updates available to appear and you can select Snapchat from there.
